Alice Marie Shifflett

On August 26, 2022 at 11:50 A.M., Alice “Marie” Weakley Shifflett left her temporary home and went to be with our Father at her eternal home in Heaven.

She was born July 10, 1942.  She enjoyed 80 blessed years with family and friends.

Marie was preceded in death by her parents, Delma and Mattie Weakley; sister, Eleanor Harlow; brother, Leroy Weakley and his wife and special sister-in-law, Rozine; several dearly loved brother and sister-in-laws, nieces, nephews; and her beloved granddaughter, Sylvia Ann Kingrea.

She leaves behind the love of her life, her husband of 62 years, Clyde S. Shifflett; one son, Granville Shifflett and his wife, Renee and their sons, James (Jim) and his wife, Jessica, Daniel and his wife, Bryanna, Tyler and his wife, Sarah; one daughter, Lisa Kingrea and her husband, David and their daughter, Holly and her husband, Andrew and two sons, Curtis and his husband, Joseph and Ryan and his fiancée.

Eight great-grandchildren, Owen Irvin and his wife, Charisse, Lizzie, Alyssa, Evan, Hallie, Jack, Sutton and Isaac; one great-great-granddaughter, Aurora; one sister, Thelma Hall; sister-in-law, Gladys Shifflett; many dearly loved nieces and nephews; and dog, Missy.

She was employed for a short time at Monticello Dairy and Albemarle County Schools in the cafeteria.

She loved her gospel music, birds, crafting, gardening, canning, playing games on her tablet and cooking.

She was a faithful member of Mt. Lebanon Church of the Brethren.

The family would like to thank the many special friends and family who kept in touch and those that helped watch over her in her last days, Carolyn and Ronnie Shifflett, Becky McDaniel, Jim Mundy, Sharon Collier, Bobby and Joyce Morris and Mary Norford.

The tender and loving of her Hospice of the Piedmont team was greatly appreciated.

The family will receive friends from 6:30-8:00 P.M. Tuesday, August 30, 2022 at Ryan Funeral Home, 12819 Spotswood Trail Ruckersville, Virginia 22968.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, August 31, 2022 at Cedar Grove Church of the Brethren, 610 Cedar Grove Road Ruckersville, Virginia 22968. Interment will follow at Holly Memorial Gardens. A fellowship meal with family and friends to follow the graveside service in the church social hall.  Food donations may be dropped off at Cedar Grove Church at 10:00 A.M. the day of the service.

As it was her hearts desire to see the church build its social hall and restrooms.  Memorial contributions may be made in Marie’s memory to:
