Alvin Earl Johnson

October 11, 1943 — April 22, 2019

Alvin Earl Johnson, 75, of Free Union, Virginia passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by family after a short battle with cancer on April 22, 2019.

Earl was born in Baltimore, Maryland, son of the late Leonard Johnson and Betty Ulrich.

Earl married Carole Johnson the love of his life and he was her “Rock.” The two were married in Dundalk, Maryland on March 27, 1964. While helping raise three sons and working full time, Dad attended PVCC and obtained an Associates Degree in Drafting and Design. He worked as a tool and dye machinist and later worked at Micro Aire as a Quality Control Inspector for surgical instruments. Dad eventually went on to work at National Optronics and then retired.

Dad took pride in his work and his family. Dad enjoyed hunting, taxidermy work, and his biggest passion was farming.

Dad was preceded in death by his parents; his oldest son, Ryan Carl Johnson; and his brother, Arthur Johnson.

Dad is survived by his wife of 55 years, Carole Ann Johnson and their three sons, William “Billy” Johnson (Teresa), Steven Johnson and Kenny Johnson (Tiffany); eight grandchildren, Austin, Kelsey, Kirstie, Tristan, Tate, Alexis (Jonathan), Gregory (Kiersten) and Dylan; sister, Sharon Glaeser of Baltimore, MD; brother, David Johnson of Florida; sister-in-law, Karen Chisholm (David) and a host of nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank Dr. Bruce Campbell, Legacy Hospice, and Dad’s special nurses, Libby and Linnea.

The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 P.M. Friday, April 26, 2019 at Ryan Funeral Home, 12819 Spotswood Trail Ruckersville, Virginia 22968. Interment will be private.
