Amy Denise Shifflett

Amy Denise Shifflett, 46, of Stanardsville, Virginia passed away Sunday, February 6, 2022 at Sentara Martha Jefferson Hospital.

She was born July 12, 1975 in Charlottesville, VA, daughter of Sharon Kay Shifflett and the late David Jonathan Shifflett.

Amy is survived by her mother, Sharon Shifflett; sister, Tracey Shifflett Via (Kevin); brother, David Shifflett, Jr.; special nephews, Marshall and A.J. Via; special niece, Tricia Sisler; special cousins, Jean and Ashley Ayers, and Tayler Hudgins, her “sidekick’ and many other aunts, uncles and cousins.

She is also survived by many special friends, Dawn Chapman, Erin Shelton and Beverly Teel (her lifelong “sisters”), Debbie Williams, Keith Johnson and Candi Perry (coworkers who became family) and Rachel Walton (her “person”).

Amy loved all children and had a special place in her heart for Brent, McKinzie, Bryce, and Parker Walton, Aubry Morris, and Carly Perry.

Amy was kind, loving and genuine. She never met a stranger and was known for her smile and laughter (even at herself during her many trips and falls). She loved family/friend gatherings, spending time with her friends shopping for treasures, and going to concerts with family and friends. Amy loved animals and leaves behind her beloved dogs (Brutus, Cookie, and Coco).

Amy was a graduate of William Monroe High School and was employed by Madison County Social Services.

The family would like to thank the staff especially the nurses in the ICU Unit at Sentara Martha Jefferson Hospital for their care for Amy.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, February 10, 2022 from 6:00-8:00 P.M. at Ryan Funeral Home, 12819 Spotswood Trail Ruckersville, VA 22968.

A funeral service will be held 11:00 A.M. Friday, February 11, 2022 at Ryan Funeral Home with Neil Lam officiating.  Interment will follow at Geer Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made in Amy’s name to the Madison-Greene Humane Society, PO Box 95 Ruckersville, VA 22968 and/or the Greene County Animal Shelter, PO Box 358 Stanardsville, VA 22973.
