Anne J. Dechent

Anne J. Dechent, 96, passed away Thursday, February 24, 2022 at the Masonic Home of Virginia.

Anne was born December 20, 1925 in High Point, North Carolina, daughter of the late Sidney Francis Jones, Sr. and Ethel O. Vestal Jones.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Herman Arthur Dechent; daughter, Lorene Alysia Dechent Shinsky; brother, Sidney F. Jones, Jr.; and nephew, Scott Jones.

Anne is survived by her daughter, Patricia Anne Reed (Donald) of Gordonsville, VA; son, Sidney Arthur Dechent (Elizabeth) of Richmond, VA; four grandchildren, Elizabeth Reed Thomas of Gordonsville, VA, Paul Dechent (Camellia) of Berryville, VA, Jonathan Dechent of Richmond, VA, David Dechent of Sterling, VA; five great-grandchildren, Semara Thomas, Aiden Dechent, Andrew Dechent, Addison Dechent and Taryn Dechent; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

She will be remembered as a loving mother and grandmother to her children and to the “extra children” who called her Mom and Grandma.

During the forty years of her husband’s ministry, she served as the pastor’s wife at five churches in North Carolina and Virginia.  She was an active member of Barboursville Baptist Church.

The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 P.M. Monday, February 28, 2022 at Ryan Funeral Home, 12819 Spotswood Trail Ruckersville, VA 22968.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, March 1, 2022 at Ryan Funeral Home with Pastors Kyle Clements and John Boswell officiating. Interment will follow at Holly Memorial Gardens.
