Annette “Peggy” Goldie Freund, a devoted wife, loving mother, grandmother, and woman of deep faith, left this world to be with Jesus on August 18, 2025, at the age of 93, with her family by her side.
Peggy was born in Highlands, NJ, on September 30, 1931, and was the fifth of seven children. She grew up on the banks of the Shrewsbury River in a home her father built. Despite a modest upbringing and difficult moments, Peggy often looked back with humor, perspective, and gratitude for how her childhood shaped her into the woman she became.
From a young age, Peggy had a love of music and a heart for God. Her mother ensured she and her siblings were always at church, where Peggy’s musical gifts and vibrant spirit first took root. Her Grandma Bogue helped her discover the grace and love of God in a powerful, life-changing way. Her personal relationship with Jesus became the foundation of her life and ministry.
Peggy met her beloved husband, Robert “Bob” Freund Sr., as a young girl during summers spent near the beach. Their childhood friendship blossomed into a once-in-a-lifetime love. Married in her hometown church, Peggy and Bob built a life together grounded in faith, hard work, and family.
She was a dedicated homemaker who found joy in creating a peaceful, loving home. Together, Peggy and Bob raised six children: Robert Jr., Richard, Randy, Alan, Elizabeth, and their beloved son David, who passed away in infancy. Each child carried a piece of her heart, and her love for them was fierce and unshakable.
Peggy’s spiritual journey deepened in adulthood as she grew in the knowledge of God and walked ever closer with Him. This transformed her life and ignited her calling to ministry. Her testimony became a source of encouragement for many. She was a woman who knew the Word, lived it, and shared it in a compassionate, loving way.
She had an unmatched gift for storytelling, laughter that filled a room, and a strength that was hard won. She loved clean sheets, water views, windy and stormy days, songs of worship, and the unshakable promises of God.
Peggy is preceded in death by her beloved husband Bob Sr., her infant son David, her parents George and Goldie King, and her six beloved siblings. She is survived by her children, Robert Freund Jr. (June), Richard Freund (Lois), Randall Freund (Valory), Alan Freund (Donna), and Elizabeth Freund Giannini (Bryston). She is also survived by her grandchildren, David, Julie (Doug), James (Lauren), Joshua, John (Jamie), Evan, Carleigh, Michael, Tyler, Jason, Lane, Megan (Peter,) and her great-grandchildren, Avery, Nathan, Hailey, Jacob, Samuel, Wylie, Jonah, and Zora. She is also survived by a wide circle of friends and spiritual family whose lives were forever changed by her love and faith.
Peggy’s life was a testimony to the redemptive power of God’s grace. She often said that the trials of her life refined her and prepared her for the ministry God called her to. She now rests in the presence of the Savior she loved so dearly—at peace, at home, and fully whole.
