Audrey Shifflett Pugh, affectionately known as Ethel, of Ruckersville, Virginia, died unexpectedly on July 5, 2025, at Martha Jefferson Hospital.
She was born on March 5, 1941, in Albemarle County to the late William Henry Shifflett and Altha Mae Lam Shifflett. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Randolph E. Pugh, Sr; her brothers, Melivin, Cleveland, Elvin, John Henry, Eddie Boy, and James Alvin Shifflett; sisters, Leona and Clara Shifflett, Emma Mae Morris, and an infant sister, "Sissy"; a special nephew, J.R. Morris; two step-sons, Gary and Mike Pugh.
Left to cherish her memory is her pride and joy, her son, Brian E. Pugh of Ruckersville; her daughter, Brenda Bishop (John) of Ruckersville; granddaughters, Bre Hansen (Chip) of Barboursville, and Jennifer Hansen (Hugh) of Madison; great-grandchildren, Ella Mae, Owen, Lucy, Addie, Duke, Levi, Maddie, and Seth; a special niece, Imogene Morris; a step-son, Randolph Pugh, Jr.; and a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
For many years, she worked as a waitress, then later at Rudy's Dry Cleaners in Charlottesville, and eventually cleaned houses to spend more time with her son.
A graveside service will be held on Monday, July 14, 2025, at Holly Memorial Gardens, beginning at 11:00 a.m.
Arrangements are entrusted to Batten Funeral Home of Ruckersville, Virginia.
