Benjamin Davis Earley, 79, of Stanardsville, Va., suddenly stepped out of his earthly body and entered his eternal rest on November 11, 2024. Born September 26, 1945, to the late Thomas Benjamin Earley and Mattie Bell Brock Earley.
Benjamin was baptized at Shiloh Baptist Church and graduated from Jackson P. Burley High School.
Benjamin owned and ran Earley’s garage. Many people knew him as Ben, and Benny, his patron, called him Mr. Earley. It was a family-owned business. After his father had retired, he took over the business. Benjamin loved working in the garage, working on vehicles, and doing inspections. There, he met lots of people and made lots of friends. Earley’s garage was well known in the community as a place to get good service and pleasant conversations. Sometimes, people would come to sit by the wood stove and just chit-chat for a while. Benjamin’s health started to fail; he had to shut the doors to Earley’s garage for now.
Benjamin was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Stanley Earley, recently four sisters, Nancy Hawkins, Jane Williams, Shirley Terrell, and Marion Wells, and a very special friend and mother of his daughter, Thelma Thomas. Three brothers-in-law and many other close relatives.
Benjamin leaves to cherish his memories: a daughter, Phyllis D. Earley, a son, Maurice Faulkner, a sister, Evangelist Edith Earley, and a sister-in-law, Helen Earley. He also leaves many nieces and nephews, great-grandnieces and nephews, and a host of extended family members and friends.
A special thank you goes to Benjamin’s dear friends, Angela and Gloria, and niece, Sandra.
A homegoing celebration will be held at Shiloh Baptist Church on Wednesday, November 20, 2024, beginning at noon. Rev. Doctor Harrison Williams will officiate. A time of fellowship will follow the service.
Arrangements are entrusted to Batten Funeral Home of Ruckersville, Virginia.
We have set up an online guestbook at www.battenfuneral.com for those who wish to share their memories of Benjamin or express their condolences. Your words will be a source of comfort and strength for the family during this time.
