Cory Austin Shifflett
“Can’t Get Right”
Cory Austin Shifflett, 31, went home to be with the Lord on June 29, 2026.
Born on March 30, 1995, in Charlottesville, Virginia, Cory was the beloved son of Gary "Nut" and Debra Shifflett.
He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Geraldine Shifflett.
Cory is survived by his loving parents, his brothers, Wesley Shifflett (Ashley) and Daniel Shifflett; his grandparents, Manis "Junior" Shifflett, Richard Woodward, and Mike and Joyce Bartol; his nephews, Caleb Norton and Gunner Shifflett; and his nieces, Paisley Shifflett and Blakely Norton-Shifflett. He is also survived by Mallory Lamb, who was like a sister to him, her husband, Levi Cheney, and their three daughters, along with close friend Laura Brock. He also leaves behind numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family members, and friends who will cherish his memory forever.
Cory may have been the youngest of his brothers, but he was always close behind them, often following them wherever they went. He had a fun-filled childhood surrounded by friends riding bikes, camping trips, riding four-wheelers around the mountains, and enjoying time outdoors with those he loved.
Cory will be remembered for his kind heart, unwavering loyalty, and the deep love he had for his family and friends. He never hesitated to help someone in need and had a way of making those around him feel like family. Though he faced difficult battles with addiction and personal demons throughout his life, those struggles never diminished the love he carried for the people who meant the most to him. More than anything, Cory wanted his family to be proud of him. His love for them was genuine and unwavering, and despite the hardships he endured, he never stopped caring deeply for those he held close. Those who knew and loved him will remember his generous spirit, his loyalty, and the moments of laughter, love, and kindness that will remain in their hearts forever.
The family will hold a celebration of life on July 11th at Dyke Firehouse from 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Batten Funeral Home of Ruckersville, Virginia.
