Curtis Gene Thacker

Curtis Gene Thacker, age 79, of Earlysville, VA passed away early Sunday morning, October 12, 2025. He was born March 16,1946 of Charlottesville, VA, to the late Curtis and Minnie Thacker. He was preceded in death by his brother Thomas Thacker.

Gene, lovingly known as Shorty, is survived by his loving wife Charlotte Thacker of 33 years; daughter Theresa (Terry) Martin; two sons Curtis Thacker (and wife Leigh) and Chris Thacker (fiancé Gina); stepsons Travis Davis (wife April) and Tony Davis (wife Joni); 12 grandkids; 5 great grandkids; two sisters, Brenda Pleasants and Linda Pace; as well as other extended family members.

Gene was a beloved husband, father, brother, and friend. He passed away peacefully at the Hospice of the Piedmont in Charlottesville, VA. He will be remembered for his easygoing spirit, sense of humor, and the joy he brought to everyone who knew him.

He loved the simple pleasures in life: exploring flea markets and yard sales in search of hidden treasures. He was a collector of Baltimore Orioles toys and anything Cal Ripken Jr. He enjoyed spending afternoons at the mall with his brother, and traveling to new places with his wife, the love of his life.

Curtis worked for 40 years as a route salesman for Shenandoah Pride, where his friendly personality and dedication made him a favorite among customers and coworkers alike. His work ethic and positive attitude left a lasting impression on all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Curtis’s warmth, laughter, and kindness will be deeply missed, but his memory will live on through the many lives he touched.

The Pallbearers will be Chris Thacker, Michael Loucks, Drew Thacker, Landin Thacker, Chase Thacker, and Joshua Collins

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 16, 2025, at Holly Memorial Gardens with Pastor Ronnie Sipe officiating.

Arrangements are entrusted to Batten Funeral Home of Ruckersville, Virginia.
