David Lee Curry, 72, of Harrisonburg, VA, went to meet his wife of 53 years, Patsy Sue Curry, in their heavenly home.
David was born May 20th, 1953, in Harrisonburg, VA, to his father, Walter Ray Curry, and his mother, Mary Agnus (Almond) Curry. He and Patsy met when she was thirteen, and he was
sixteen years old. They were married on July 1st, 1972, and built a beautiful family shortly after by welcoming their two sons, David Lee Curry II and wife Crystal, Earl Ray Curry and wife Heather. David gave both of his sons a wonderful example of how to be a husband and father. He
took great pride in his family and ensured each and every one knew they were loved.
David was a man of many talents, a jack of all trades, as his family called him. Early in his life, he painted houses for Harry Brunk. He then worked as an auto mechanic at Jerry’s Auto Sales for 15 years before starting his own business, Dave’s Auto Shop, 30 years ago. Over those 30 years, he was a well-known expert in auto bodywork and the restoration of antique vehicles. Then, at the young age of 60, he completed his GED and ended his working career at Walker Manufacturing in 2020. Outside of his family and work, he loved hunting and fishing. He told many stories of fishing almost every day for twenty-five years. Along with working on cars, he also loved to race.
In retirement, he greatly enjoyed spending his time with Patsy. They enjoyed going to the racetrack at Shenandoah Downs, Charlestown Casino, and Las Vegas. Outside of his two sons, David and Earl, he took great pride in his five grandchildren. Damian Curry (wife Allison), Mychaela Riggleman (husband Gabriel), Katie Shifflett (Husband Blake), Randall Curry (Wife Abby), and Cayleigh Randall (boyfriend Christian). Earlier this year, he was blessed with two great-granddaughters, Anneliese Shifflett (Katie) and Virginia Riggleman (Mychaela). David will be missed by numerous brothers and sisters, nieces and nephews, and most of all, his precious poodle Ellie.
