David Wayne Shifflett

David Wayne Shifflett, 65, of Stanardsville, Virginia passed away Friday, February 18, 2022 at Sentara Martha Jefferson Hospital with his wife and daughters by his side.

David was born August 17, 1956 in Charlottesville, VA. Son of the late Arthur Shifflett and Mary Layne Shifflett.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, James Shifflett, John Shifflett and Jackie Shifflett.

David is survived by his wife, Doris Shifflett of Stanardsville; daughters, Holly Shifflett (Patrick) of Stanardsville, Jennifer Shifflett (Peewee) of Ruckersville and Amanda Shifflett ( A.J.) of Dyke; siblings, Arthur Shifflett Jr. of Illinois, Joyce Morris (Clarence) of Crozet, Linda Youhess (Mark) of Palmyra, Susan Shifflett of Charlottesville and Mike Shifflett (Dana) of Woodbridge; grandchildren, Cameron Shifflett (the son he never had), Destiny Mallory, Anthony Mallory, Heidi Vernon, Justin Mallory and Kylie Vernon; five great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, other family members and special friends.

Dave’s first job was at Morton’s Frozen Food where he met his loving wife of forty-five years. While working he attended K-Tech to get his mechanic license. He held his first mechanic job at an auto shop on Preston Avenue then went to Texaco working for Dan Dickerson until he opened his own shop (Dave’s Automotive) in Ruckersville until he retired in 2006. Dave was a gentle man with a kind and giving heart who would help all.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, February 23, 2022 from 6-8 p.m.at Ryan Funeral Home, 12819 Spotswood Trail Ruckersville, VA 22968.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, February 24, 2022 at 1 p.m. at Ryan Funeral Home with Pastor Wendell Lamb officiating. Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery.
