David Mark Welcher, 65, of Bacon Hollow, Virginia, passed away peacefully in his sleep at his home on June 16, 2026.

Born on July 29, 1960, in Staunton, Virginia, David was the son of the late Gertrude Wilkerson Branch Welcher and J.P. Welcher. He was also preceded in death by his brothers, Paul Welcher and Dale Welcher.

David dedicated more than 30 years of his life to CR Moore Well Drilling in Charlottesville. In his later years, he enjoyed working as a dump truck driver alongside his niece and nephew, a role that allowed him to continue doing what he loved most—working hard and spending time with family.

He is survived by his sister, Deborah Harlow; brother-in-law, Edison Crawford; nieces and nephews, Gregory Harlow (Wendy), Eddie "Boo" Crawford, Jeanine Crawford (Kevin Shifflett), and Jeremy Crawford (Mindy). He also leaves behind his beloved great-nieces and great-nephews: Logan Crawford, Brandon Crawford, Maccenna "Kenna" Shifflett, Allijondra "Allieboo" Shifflett, Destiny Harlow, Faith Harlow, Victoria "Toria" Harlow, Millie Crawford, Madelynn Crawford, Maggie Crawford, and Leroy Crawford.

David was a devoted family man and a true friend to everyone who knew him. He never met a stranger and found great joy in watching his nieces and nephews grow, succeed, and take on life's adventures. His strong work ethic, kind heart, and unwavering love for his family will be remembered and cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

A private service and interment will be held by the family.

Though he will be deeply missed, David's memory will live on in the hearts of those who loved him.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Batten Funeral Home of Ruckersville, Virginia.
