Debra Mundie Snow, known to most as Debbie Jean, age 65, passed away on December 9, 2025, at UVA Hospital. She was born on May 29, 1960, in Albemarle County. She is the daughter of the late Curtis Mundie and Ruth Ann Mundie. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. Debbie lived a life defined by kindness, generosity, and simple joys.
Debbie was preceded in death by her parents, Ruth and Curtis Mundie; her sister, Sandy Williams; and her beloved dog, Maggie.
Debbie is survived by her loving husband of 43 years, Michael (Mike) Snow; her son, Travis Snow, and his wife, Tara; her daughter, Tayler Snow; and her grandchildren, Kamdyn and Karter Snow, who were the lights of her life. She is also survived by her two brothers, Dan Mundie (Debbie), and Mark Mundie (Cindy); as well as many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. In addition, she leaves behind many special friends and family members.
Debbie graduated from Albemarle High School and began her career with the University of Virginia, where she has worked for over 45 years. Debbie was the assistant to the Dean of Psychology, where her peers, colleagues, and graduate students had nothing but positive things to say about her. She was an indispensable member of the department, with the impact of her contributions being impossible to overstate.
Of all the joys in her life, Debbie’s first and greatest passion was her family. She enjoyed spending quality time on the porch with Mike, playing with and spoiling her grandbabies, shopping with Tayler, and being a jokester with Travis. Being creative and attending craft shows were among her favorite hobbies. She was a phenomenal baker and once made a carrot cake that sold for over 300 dollars. Debbie cherished all of the holidays and poured her heart into decorating, celebrating, and creating unforgettable memories.
Debbie touched the lives of everyone who had the honor of knowing her. Her selflessness, warmth, and generous spirit will be remembered forever. She leaves behind a legacy of love, strength, and compassion that lives on in all of us. As we mourn her loss, we also celebrate the love, joy, and kindness that were the essence of Debbie’s being.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to all of the nurses, physicians, and staff at UVA Hospital for their exceptional care and compassion.
