Edward L. Amburgey, 90, of Ruckersville, formerly of Highland Springs went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, August 11, 2013 at his daughter’s home.

Edward was born May 21, 1923 in Lawton, Kentucky, son of the late John Amburgey and Emmer Creech Amburgey.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Audrey Amburgey.

Edward is survived by his daughter, Yvonne Jones and her husband, G. Raye Jones of Ruckersville; three grandchildren, Heather Martin, Mary Beth Morris and Lydia Jones; four great grandchildren, Willow Rae Morris, Grady Morris, Tanner Morris and Ivy Martin.

He was a member of Faith Baptist Church in Charlottesville. Edward was a proud member of the U.S. Navy serving his country during World War II from 1944-1946 as a quartermaster. He was retired from the C &O Railroad.

The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 P.M. Tuesday, August 13, 2013 at the Ryan Funeral Home, 12819 Spotswood Trail, Ruckersville, Virginia.

A graveside service will be held at 1:00 P.M. Wednesday, August 14, 2013 at Washington Memorial Park in Sandston, Virginia with Dr. Michael D. McClary officiating.
