Ernest Owen Dabney

Ernest Owen Dabney, a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather, 76, of Ruckersville passed away Friday, August 5, 2016 at Martha Jefferson Hospital surrounded by his loved ones.
He now joins his late parents Ernest E. and Carrie Dabney; his in-laws, Henry and Arlene Wright; his sister, Minnie Kirby and husband, Raleigh; his brother-in-law, Charles Wright.
Ernest is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Jean Dabney; sister, Elizabeth Mahoney (Larry); brother-in-law, William Wright; three children, Kenny Dabney (Connie), Tracy Dabney (Pam), Annette Bruner (Lawrence). He was the proud grandfather of Brandi, Ashley, Robbie, Christopher, Jennifer, Hailee, Mikala, Kyle and Dakota and great grandchildren, Ethan, Chris Jr., Leighanna, Rebecca, Nate, Abigail, and Austin. Ernest is also survived by one aunt, Kate Harlow and many cousins.
For 17 years he owned and operated E and J Market in Ruckersville with his wife and children.
The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses at Martha Jefferson Hospital for their care during the last 4 ½ weeks.
The family will receive friends 6:30-8:00 P.M. Monday, August 8, 2016 at Ryan Funeral Home, 12819 Spotswood Trail, Ruckersville, Virginia.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, August 9, 2016 at Ruckersville Community Cemetery.
