Everett Paul Richardson, a kind and adventurous spirit, passed away peacefully on June 12, 2024, at the age of 84.
Born in Mountainair, New Mexico, Paul (as he preferred to be called) lived a full life across the United States. He married Barbara Robinson in 1962, and together they had four children: Christine, Joanne, Debra, and Mickey. After their divorce in the 1980s, Paul found love again with Arlene Lundgren. They married, had two sons, Ryan and Tyler, and built a life together in Virginia.
Paul's love for his family was unparalleled. He was a dedicated father to his six children, Christine, Joanne, Debra, Mickey, Ryan, and Tyler. His friends often described him as someone who would “give the shirt off his back” if someone was in need, a testament to his kind and selfless nature.
He is survived by his siblings Martha Korn, Dennis Richardson, and Jerry Richardson, his six children, and their spouses, Mark Smith, Mark Bobbitt, Jerry Posey, and Amie Richardson. He had eight grandchildren, Brian, Stephen, Timothy, Benjamin, Megan, Haley, Natalie, and Cassidy, and three great-grandchildren, Benjamin, David, and Lucia.
Paul loved the great outdoors, instilling a deep appreciation of nature in his children. They have fond memories of adventurous camping trips in the Florida Everglades, many state parks, and large lakes, where he taught them the joys of fishing. He loved sports, played baseball, coached little league (along with each of his sons), and was a devoted Texas Rangers fan.
Paul especially cherished his time with his Grandma Kershaw, who took him in from seventh grade through high school. He always credited her for guiding him toward a more positive life path. Later in life, Paul found a spiritual home within the local Methodist church, where his daughter-in-law Amie played piano.
The family will be hosting a memorial service to honor Paul's life at 247 Colony Drive, Stanardsville, Virginia 22973, on Friday, June 28, at 11 a.m. We warmly invite all who knew Paul to join us in this celebration of his life.
Arrangements are entrusted to Batten Funeral Home of Ruckersville, Virginia.
We have set up an online guestbook at www.battenfuneral.com for those who wish to share their memories of Paul or express their condolences. Your words will be a source of comfort and strength for the family during this time.
