Everett Edwin Shifflett

Everett Edwin Shifflett, 89, of Stanardsville, Va., went home to be with his Lord on Wed., Oct. 23, 2013. He was born May 8, 1924 in Rockingham County, Va.

Preceding him in death are his parents, Lucullus and Susan Shifflett. His siblings George, Elmer, Pearl, Edith and Sarah. One Great Grandchild Cameron Morris.

He is survived by his loving wife Clarris, five daughters, Barbara Morris (Roger), Brenda Acosta (Cesar), Hazel Norris (Lewis, Jr.), Christine Eppard (special friend, Freeman), Donna Rogers (David), one son, Dwayne Shifflett (Molly), two brothers, Freddie Shifflett, Wilbert (Bill) Shifflett (Margie), one sister, Tilda Morris (Charles), 13 Grandchildren, 25 Great Grandchildren, 3 Great-Great Grandchildren and a host of family and many, many friends.

Everett was retired from Montgomery County, MD as a truck driver after many years of service. He was a faithful member of Nortonsville Church of God. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. He will be remembered as a prayer warrior and a mighty soldier of the Lord. He loved the joy of his salvation! He is shouting on the streets of gold and waiting for each us to join him.

A special thank you to Dr. Bentley and Alice Calhoun and staff at Forest Lakes Health Center for their loving care. Also, Pastor David and Carol Allison for their love and support. He loved you all very much.

The family will receive friends on Friday, October 25, 2013 from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Nortonsville Church of God, 1505 Simmons Gap Rd Dyke, VA 22935.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 26, 2013 at 2:30 p.m. at Nortonsville Church of God with Pastor David Allison, Pastor Larry Morris, and Pastor Rodney Locklear officiating.

Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery.
