Floyd Elmer Lamb

Floyd Elmer Lamb, 73, of Ruckersville, VA, died at UVA Hospital on June 2, 2022. He was born on February 13, 1949, in Charlottesville to the late James Willis Lamb and his surviving mother, Lula Jones Lamb.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his sister, Dorothy Lamb Morris.

In addition to his mother, he leaves behind his loving wife of 52 years, Judy Harlow Lamb; brothers, Paul Lamb (Susan) and John Lamb (Dorothea); sisters, Wanda Turner (James) and Ann Powell (Anthony); brother-in-law, Gary Harlow (Jean) and Terry Harlow; many nieces and nephews, Melissa Lamb, Ryan Lamb, Tonya Turner, Anthony Powell, Matthew Powell, Sarah Tyson, a very special niece, Meghann Gregory (Mike), who were there for him every day for months until the end, Jason (Amy) Harlow, Christina Morris, and Kenneth Morris.

Floyd worked at UVA for 28 years in the housing maintenance department. He retired in 2000. His favorite hobbies were working in and around his home, and keeping his vehicles clean and running smoothly. He and Judy enjoyed spending time together and eating a good meal out and socializing with friends.

We would like to thank our special neighbors, Jeff, and Jeanie Breeden; Brad, Jennifer, Grant, and Levi McDaniel for always being there and being the best.

Another special thank you to the many UVA Cardiologist who worked so hard over the years to help Floyd; Dr. Hsu at Pantops Cancer Center who monitored his iron and blood so well; the entire staff at UVA Primary Care at Riverside including two very special nurses, Tracey, and Darlene. We would also like to thank all the guys who came in to help us – you know who you are – you will forever be remembered.

The family will receive friends from 4:00-6:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 5, 2022, at Ryan Funeral Home.

A funeral service will be held on Monday, June 6, 2022, starting at 11 a.m. at Ryan Funeral Home with Pastor Phillip Powell officiating. Special music will be performed by Scotty Batten.  

Interment will follow at Ruckersville Community Cemetery.
