Frances Temple Doniel

Frances Temple Doniel, 88, of Charlottesville, passed away peacefully at English Meadows Senior Living in Crozet on Wednesday, March 4, 2026.

Born December 13, 1937, in Waynesboro, she attended Lane High School, Piedmont Virginia Community College, and Mary Baldwin Business College. From 1978 to 2003, she was a member of the human resources staff at Farmington Country Club. She was a member of the National Human Resources Association and the Archaeological Society of Virginia. Temple was an accomplished artist in addition to enjoying canoeing, water rafting, and needlepoint.

She was preceded in death by her father and mother, Harry and Lucille White Doniel, and brothers James and Harry Doniel, Jr.

She was a special person, vibrant, loving, interesting, and amazing. While she didn’t have any biological children, Temple was a surrogate mother to her next-door neighbor, Tracy Daniels, who loved her dearly. Other dear friends, Lia Daniels Foley, Barbara Poston, Peg Weems, Rev. Gary Anderson, Aubrey, and Carolyn Harris, always spoke of her as a beautiful person of exceptional talent. Her cousin, William Doniel, and wife Kim of St. Petersburg, Florida, were always amazed by her wit and genuine sense of humor. June Stork became a close friend who always provided surprise gifts.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 11, 2026, at Holly Memorial Gardens, 3251 Seminole Trail, Charlottesville, VA, with Rev. Greg Anderson officiating.

In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, donations can be made in Temple’s memory to Belmont Baptist Church, 830 Monticello Avenue, Charlottesville, VA 22902.
