Fred Thomas Morris

Fred Thomas Morris, 88, of Dyke, Virginia passed away Monday, May 3, 2021.

Thomas was born March 8, 1933 in Greene County, son of the late Fred L. Morris and Gertrude Shifflett Morris.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Ora Elizabeth Foster Morris; siblings, Landon Lee Morris, Donnie Wayne Morris, Hazel Marie Clark, Delores Maxine Morris and Theodore “Ted” Morris; and son-in-law, John William Sparks, Jr.

Thomas is survived by his daughter, Linda Ann Sparks of Barboursville, VA; son, Alvin Wade Morris (Mary) of Dyke, VA; siblings, Ruby Faye Williams, Betty Jean Morris (Tommy), Gary James Morris (Carolyn) and Leon Wesley Morris (Jean); grandchildren, Lori Fisher (Josh) and Kevin Morris (Michelle); and great-grandchildren, Pearson Cole Fisher and Ava Brooke Fisher.

He is also survived by some special friends, Juanita Martin, Barbara Mouberry, Linda Reece, Linda Farish ,Teresa Dunnivan and Lilly Batten.

Thomas is also survived by his best friend in the whole wide world his cat, Tiger.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Shelviajean Allen, Dr. Andrew McFarland, Debbie Rowe, David Yoder, Jimmy Morris, Betty (sister) and Tommy Morris.

Thomas retired from Blue Ridge School after many years of service and attended Evergreen Church of the Brethren.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, May 15, 2021 at Thomas’s home (347 Mt. Olivet Road Dyke, VA 22935) with Rev. C. C. Kurtz and Brian Robinson officiating.  A private interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at Thomas’s home one hour prior to the service.
