George Ellis “Dickie” Runkle, Jr.
George Ellis “Dickie” Runkle, Jr., 67, of Ruckersville, VA died on Friday, February 22, 2013 at his residence. He was born on October 19, 1945 in Charlottesville, VA to the late George E. Runkle, Sr and Elizabeth Lee Marshall Jennings.
Mr. Runkle was a lifetime member of the Ruckersville Volunteer Fire Department and served as Chief for 13 years. He was employed through the Greene County School system for 27 years in maintenance and was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed circle track racing. His love was for his family and the Lord and was born again on October 28, 2012.
He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Wanda Clements Runkle, his children, Michelle Villers and her husband, Eddie and George E. Runkle III and two grandchildren, Johnnie and Victoria Villers all of Ruckersville.
Additional survivors include his siblings, Susan Keyseear and John “J.B.” Runkle, his uncle, Howard “Bu” Marshall and numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends.
The family will receive friends on Monday, February 25, 2013 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Ryan Funeral Home, 12819 Spotswood Trail Ruckersville, VA 22968.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, February 26, 2013 at 1 p.m. at Grace Baptist Church with Pastor Johnny Hartless and Pastor Josh Shifflett officiating.
Interment will follow in Spring Hill Baptist Church Cemetery.
