Georgie Laverne Shiflett

Georgie Laverne Shiflett, age 91, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 17, 2025, at the Sentara Martha Jefferson Hospital in Charlottesville, Virginia.

Born on April 22, 1934, to Henry and Iva Roach of Free Union, Virginia, Georgie was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She will be remembered for her kindness, patience, and warm sense of humor. Georgie loved her family deeply and unconditionally – especially her son Bobby, whom she adored, and her granddaughter, Kerri, to whom she was a second mother.

Georgie was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Shiflett. She is survived by her son Robert (Bobby) Shiflett and his wife Andrea, granddaughter Kerri Shiflett, step-granddaughter Amanda Jordan, and great-grandchildren Aiden Johnson and Mya Wood.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, December 20, 2025, at 11 am at Wesley Chapel Methodist Church, on Wesley Chapel Road, Free Union, Virginia. Following interment at the Wesley Chapel Cemetery, family and friends will gather at the Free Union Church of the Brethren, located at 4152 Free Union Road, for food and fellowship.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to be made in Georgie’s honor to the Greene County Rescue Squad.

The family would like to thank Dr. Beisecker-Levin and the nurses of Sentara Martha Jefferson Hospital, Unit Cornell 2, for their kindness and support.
