Gilbert Walter Stephens

Gilbert Walter Stephens, 80, of Scottsville, Virginia, passed away peacefully on September 22, 2025, at Sentara Martha Jefferson Hospital, after a long battle with lung cancer. Born on May 31, 1945, Gilbert was the son of the late Walter G. and Mabel C. Stephens.

He is survived by his son, W.C. Stephens (Shelley); granddaughter, Cayla Walker (Brandon); and great-granddaughter, Lindsey. Gilbert is also survived by his brother, David Stephens, with whom he shared a close bond.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Brenda Stephens, and his beloved siblings Shirley Walker, James Stephens, and Lester Frazier.

Family and friends are welcome to visit Gilbert’s brother, David Stephens, at his home, 125 Moores Hill, Scottsville, VA, at any time to share memories and celebrate Gilbert’s life.
