Glenn Ray “Pete” Brill

Following recent years of declining health, Glenn Ray (“Pete”) Brill, 87, a life-long resident of Greene County, passed on July 20, 2026, at Monroe Health & Rehabilitation in Charlottesville, VA. Born on August 18, 1938, Pete was the second son of Cecil and Lillian Jarrell Brill. He was predeceased by his parents, his wife Jean Taylor Brill, his brothers and their wives Donald Lee Brill (Judith Furik Brill) and Rodger Mason Brill (Arlene Barker Brill), and nephews Donald Lee Brill, Jr. and Robert Scott Brill.

Pete was a member of Stanardsville Baptist Church and retired from the Greene County school system following a career in janitorial and maintenance services. Pete also farmed, enjoyed gardening, and worked assorted part-time jobs (Collier’s Grocery and Kite’s Hams). He was well known throughout Greene County, and a friend to all. Anyone who needed assistance could always count on Pete to come to their aid, and over his lifetime he provided caregiver services to several of the county’s elderly residents. Pete had a keen sense of family genealogy and was always the “go-to” guy when anyone needed information on extended family members and/or friends within the community. Pete was well known for his exceptional cooking and baking skills, in particular – his homemade cakes and yeast rolls; and … his love of Diet Pepsi-Cola.

Surviving are stepdaughters, Debra (Mark) Drumheller, Doris (Ronnie) Lawson, and Frances (Junior) Shifflett; nieces Elizabeth (Joel Sullivan) Brill, Catherine (Richard Durrer) Pritchett, nephew Kevin (Tiffany) Brill, several great-nieces/nephews, step-grand and great-grandchildren, assorted cousins, many friends and associates, and his decades-long family friend and neighbor Jim Woodson.

The family acknowledges the excellent care provided to Pete by his months-long caregiver and niece Cathy (“Boogie”) Pritchett, who was like a daughter to him. Sincere thanks are also extended to the Hospice of the Piedmont, and the staff and employees of Monroe Health & Rehab, particularly Dr. Jonathan Evans who administered care in Pete’s final days.

Arrangements (currently incomplete) are entrusted to Batten Funeral Home of Ruckersville. Details regarding a memorial service will be announced at a later date.
