Grace Louise Thacker

Grace Louise Thacker, 55, of Waynesboro, Virginia went to be in God’s care on Tuesday, February 1, 2022 at Augusta Health. 

Grace was born September 23, 1966 in Staunton, Virginia, daughter of Ella Louise Jordan and the late Paul Lee Jordan.

In addition to her Father, she was preceded in death by her mother- in- law (Mom) Marie Thacker, and Vince Shifflett, who was like a son to her. 

Grace is survived by her mother Ella Louise Jordan; daughter Erica Danielle Thacker; son Thomas Douglas Thacker Jr. and fiancé Brooke Lilly; son Christopher Lee Thacker and wife Brooke Thacker; and daughter Michaela Grace Thacker. Her 9 grandchildren who hold a huge piece of her heart; Bradley, Brantley, Haylie, Landon, Lillian, Abigayle, Emily, Kynsleigh, and Christopher Jr.; along with 9 siblings; Chuck Wiseman and wife Angela; Mike Wiseman; Sonya Eavey and husband Joe; Ruth Barnes and husband Junior; Phillip Jordan and wife Linda; Timmy Jordan; Anna Rose and husband Larry; Becky Shaffer and husband Andrew; and Joy Clark and husband Kenny. As well as her father in law (Dad) Thomas K. Thacker and the father of her children, Thomas D. Thacker, Sr. Along with many nieces, nephews and family members. In addition to her children and grandchildren she had many adopted. Adopted children include Tara Tawil and her husband George, Heather Wright and her husband Brent, and Scott Hoerman. Adopted grandchildren include Owen Kraus, Caleb Maupin, Hayden Armentrout, Kaylee Maupin, Lara Kraus, and Grayson Wright.

Family meant the world to Grace, she always made them first priority and held everyone together. Anyone who met Grace considered her a friend/momma and knew they could come to her with anything and she would go above for them. She adored being an amazing teacher and taking care of any child around her. One of her many siblings said they were sisters by birth, friends by choice, she was loved so much and will be missed greatly. 

Grace loved lighthouses, flowers and singing gospel music. Her favorite song to sing was Heaven will be worth the journey.  She was trusted most with everyone’s child and held every baby so naturally. She was a faithful devoted member of Full Gospel Assembly and Straightway. 

The family will receive friends at 12:00 P.M. Wednesday, February 9, 2022 at Full Gospel Assembly.

The funeral service will follow at 1:00 P.M. with Pastor Ronnie Sipe officiating.  Interment will follow at Holly Memorial Gardens.

Pallbearers will include Thomas D. Thacker Jr, Chris Thacker, Timmy Jordan, Phillip Jordan, Mike Wiseman, and Joe Eavey. Honorary Pallbearers will include Chuck Wiseman and Kevin McDaniel.
