Harlan J. McPherson

Harlan J. “Holly” McPherson, 85, of Stanardsville, Virginia passed away Saturday, July 10, 2021.

He was born June 24, 1936 in Johnson City, NY, son of the late Irving and Edith Paye McPherson.

In addition to his parents, Harlan was preceded in death by his first wife, Brigitte R. McPherson; son, Carl McPherson; grandson, Xavier Taj McPherson; and brothers, James “Jimmy” and Edward “Eddie” McPherson; and son-in-law, Bruce Myers.

Harlan is survived by his loving wife, Ethel McPherson;  son, Melvin McPherson (Dorothy); daughters, Juanita McPherson, Carmen McPherson (Hilpert Kostka); stepson, Stephen Hess (Pam); stepdaughter, Terri Isenhour (Craig); grandchildren, Melvin Carter, Taj McPherson, Scott Myers, Patrick Hess, Paige Hess and Megan Isenhour; brother, Dale McPherson; 13 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws and friends.

Harlan was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army and a member of  Nortonsville Church of God.

The family will receive friends from 7:00-8:00 P.M. Tuesday, July 13, 2021 at Nortonsville Church of God, 1505 Simmons Gap Road Dyke, VA 22935.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, July 14, 2021 at Nortonsville Church of God with Pastor Greg Payne officiating.  Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery.
