Hester Margina Lamb

Hester Margina Lamb, 85, of Standardsville, Virginia, passed away peacefully at her home on September 25, 2025, surrounded by loved ones and in the presence of the Lord. Hester was born February 2, 1940, to Enoch Roach & Gracie Pearl Shifflett Roach of Standardville, Virginia.

Hester was a member of the Wolftown Pentecostal church in Madison, Virginia.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 52 years, David Lamb. Also preceding her in death are her daughter, Brenda Slaughter, and son, Lewis David Lamb. Also, brothers Otis, Edward, and Earmon, and sisters Margaret Byram, Mary Lamb, and Betty Deane.

She is survived by her two daughters, Lisa Dean (Mike Dean) and Barbara Taylor (Robert), son-in-law, Michael Slaughter; and like a daughter-in-law, Jo Ann Nicholson. She had 6 grandchildren, Michael Slaughter, Joshua Collier (Alyssa), Matthew Lamb (Michaela), Monica Branch (Logan), Brandon Collier (Kristen) & James Dean (Kenzie). Ten great-grandchildren: Raylon & Weston Collier, McKenna & Isaac Branch, Ryleigh & Barrett Collier, Kayden, Elliette, Walker & Madelynn Lamb. She left behind four sisters, Lois Mundie, Alice Morris, Cora Lawson & Lottie Lawson. 

The family would like to thank Carol Sue Lam, Medi Hospice & all the friends & family who have been there.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, September 30, 2025, at Batten Funeral Home from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., followed by a funeral service at 12:00 p.m., officiated by Pastor Jeff Shifflett. Interment will follow at Holly Memorial Gardens.

Arrangements are entrusted to Batten Funeral Home of Ruckersville, Virginia.
