Irene McDaniel Shifflett Morris

Irene McDaniel Shifflett Morris, 88, of Greene County, Virginia passed away at her daughter’s home and went to be with the Lord on Saturday, March 27, 2021. Irene was born on September 14, 1932. The daughter of the late James Arthur McDaniel and Hattie Lam McDaniel.  

She was proceeded in death by her husbands, Franklin D. Shifflett and Fred A. Morris Sr; brothers, Ellis, Dennis, and Raymond McDaniel; sisters, Madeline Shifflett, Della Rodgers, Gladys Breeden, Ada Shifflett, and Annie Mae Roach; step-children, Stanley Morris, and Arnold Morris.

Irene is survived by her five children, Larry Shifflett (Sharon), Diane Brown (Donnie), Jimmy Shifflett (Melinda), Alvin Shifflett (Terri), and Fred Layton Morris; nine grandchildren, Kim, Neal, Dawn, Matthew, Michael, Jamie, Sabrina, Wesley, and Tiffany; twenty great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; sister, Lottie McCauley (Don); brothers, David, and Delmar McDaniel; step-children, Karen Baugher and Keith Morris (Jackie); as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Irene worked and retired from Crouse-Hinds Company after thirty-five devoted years of service. She was also a member of Nortonsville Church of God. Irene loved gardening, sewing, and most of all spending time with her family.

The family would like to thank Medi Home Hospice, Dr. Brooke Bostic, Katie Champion, Kristen Hasson, and Pastor Jim Blackwell.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, March 31, 2021, from 4:00-6:30 p.m. at Ryan Funeral Home located at 12819 Spotswood Trl. Ruckersville, VA 22968.

A funeral service will be held at noon on Thursday, April 1, 2021, at Ryan Funeral Home with Pastor Jim Blackwell officiating. Interment will follow at Holly Memorial Gardens.
