James Henry Lamb

James Henry Lamb, 81, of Charlottesville, VA, passed quietly away on March 4, 2026, at Cedars Nursing Home. He was born on September 12, 1944, and raised in Greene County. He was the son of the late Henry and Hazel Lamb. He loved the mountains where he grew up.

James was preceded in death by his brothers, Willie and Malcolm Lamb, his sisters, Peachy Jeffries, Lorene Shifflett, and Dora Shifflett.

James is survived by his wife, Margie Lamb of Charlottesville; his son, Davis Lamb (Valerie); grandson, Jeremy of Charlottesville; his daughter, Jessica Lamb and her three daughters of Charlottesville; his sisters, Betty Shifflett, Mary Paschall, and Mildred Sanders (Paul); and brother-in-law Bernard Shifflett.

James worked for Coke for many years. He also worked cutting trees with his favorite brother-in-law, Frank Paschall, whom he called “Doc”.

James will be missed dearly by his family.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, March 8, 2026, from 5:00-7:00 at Batten Funeral Home.
