James Sanford Shifflett, 66, of Ruckersville, VA passed away surrounded by his family on Wednesday, October 28, 2015 at the University of Virginia Medical Center. He was born on October 1, 1949 in Stanardsville, VA to the late Otis and Marjorie Shifflett.
Mr. Shifflett was an outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, bluegrass music and antique cars. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend and will be missed by all he knew.
He is survived by his wife, Lavania Faye Shifflett; his children, James Michael Shifflett, Tracy Leigh Kirby and Eugene Lester Kirby and his wife, Cheryl; siblings, Wade Shifflett, Jeff Shifflett and his wife, Brenda, Linda Price and her husband, Gary and Wendy Morris and her husband, Ronnie; grandchildren, Tyler, Kelsey and Rachel; his best friend and hunting buddy, Thomas Shifflett; brother-in-laws, Carl Shifflett and Billy Shifflett and numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends.
The family will receive friends on Friday, October 30, 2015 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Ryan Funeral Home, 12819 Spotswood Trail, Ruckersville, VA 22968.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 31, 2015 at 1 p.m. at Ryan Funeral Home with Pastor Buster Payne officiating.
Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery.
