Janice Brewton Skipper

Janice Brewton Skipper, 73, of Ruckersville, VA passed away peacefully on Monday, January 29, 2018 at UVA Medical Center. She was born on February 3, 1944 in Fairhope, AL to the late Leon and Marie Brewton. Janice was a devoted mother and grandmother and truly loved her family and her little dogs.

She is survived by her sons, Donald R. Skipper and wife, Stefanie H. Skipper of Ruckersville, VA, Ronald L. Skipper and wife, Tracie S. Skipper of Charlottesville, VA and Lonnie L. Skipper of Chesterfield, VA; sister, Marggie B. Briggs and husband, Paul Briggs of VA Beach, VA; brothers, Leon M. Brewton, Jr. and wife, Vita L. Brewton of NC and Michael L. Brewton of VA Beach, VA; five grandchildren, Ryan C. Skipper of Chesterfield, VA, Rose Marie Bethel Skipper of Ruckersville, VA Taylor Lee Skipper of Baldwin, AL. Mickey Alexander Skipper of Baldwin, AL and Tye Jayme Skipper of Ruckersville, VA; 19 nieces and nephews; one aunt; one uncle; and a very special dialysis technician, Donna Seale.

She has suffered from various ailments for some years but was always surrounded by her loved ones. Family was the most important thing in the world to her and she loved and was loved deeply. Her favorite pastimes were spending time with her family and watching movies after he eyesight became too poor to read, which was her all time favorite pastime.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 3, 2018 at 6 p.m. at Solid Rock Full Gospel Church, 3580 Spotswood Trail, Barboursville, VA 22923, with Pastor Larry Morris officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 5 – 6 p.m.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in her name to the Alzheimer’s Association, 485 Hillsdale Dr, Charlottesville, VA 22901 and/or the National Kidney Foundation, Inc., 30 East 33rd St. New York, NY 10016.
