John Wesley Morris

John Wesley Morris, 80, of Dyke, VA passed away Tuesday, June 19, 2018, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on October 1, 1937 in Charlottesville, VA to the late George and Alma (Shifflett) Morris.

Johnny Cake was an outdoorsman. He enjoyed tending to his farm, gardening, riding horses and coon hunting. He had a witty sense of humor that could always make you smile and laugh. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather and will be deeply missed by all he knew.

He is survived by his children, John W Morris, Jr., David Nelson Morris and his wife, Theresa, Karen Lynne Davis and her husband, Mike and Hezzie Kiah Morris and his wife, Donna; one sister, Lorene Morris; eight grandchildren, Chrissy, Scotty, Victoria, Dana, Krystal, Joey, Ashley and Cody and 14 great grandchildren.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his loving wife, Iler Margaret Morris; his grandson, Phillip “Scotty” Morris; and his siblings, Mittie Dudley, Randolph “Fuzzy” Morris, Edward “Ed” Morris and Junior Morris.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, June 21, 2018 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Ryan Funeral Home, 12819 Spotswood Trail, Ruckersville, VA 22968.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, June 22, 2018 at 2 p.m. at Evergreen Church of the Brethren, Dyke Rd, VA 22935, with Rev. C. C. Kurtz officiating.

Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery.

The family would like to thank Dr. Ursula Courtney, his caregivers, Robin, Lorena, Janet and Jenny and his niece, Lois Ann for their loving care and compassion and also special friends, Lisa Morris and Rodney Morris.
