Mr. Jose Antonio “Joe” Rodriguez, 81, of Ruckersville, Virginia, passed away peacefully on June 24, 2026 with his loved ones by his side.
Born on June 2, 1945, in Bayamon, Puerto Rico, Joe lived a remarkable life filled with service, creativity, and devotion to his family.
Joe proudly served his country in the United States Navy from 1965 to 1974 as a Cryptologic Technician Technical Second Class (CTT2). During his nine years of honorable service, he worked aboard diesel submarines and other vessels, contributing to critical missions with skill and dedication. His time in the Navy was a testament to his commitment to excellence and his unwavering sense of duty.
Following his military service, Joe embarked on a distinguished career as an Analyst with the National Ground Intelligence Service under the US Government. His work reflected his sharp intellect and analytical prowess until his retirement.
Joe was a man of many talents and passions. A self-taught golfer and accomplished trumpet player, he found joy in both music and sport. He had a deep appreciation for classical music and often expressed himself through sketching and woodworking. An avid reader with an inventive spirit, Joe’s unique perspective on life left an indelible mark on those who knew him.
Above all else, Joe cherished his family. He is survived by Maura, his beloved wife of 41 years; his daughter Christine and her husband Steven along with grandsons Steven, Spencer, and Seth; his son John and his wife Elizabeth along with granddaughters Alyssa and Adriana; their son Joshua, daughter-in-law Miranda along with granddaughters Marilyn and Scarlett; and their son Matthew and his wife Aimee along with granddaughter Charlotte. Joe also leaves behind countless nieces and nephews who held a special place in his heart.
He was predeceased by his parents Antonio and Carmen Rodriguez; his brother Freddie Rodriguez; and his sister Carmen Aida Martinez.
Joe’s legacy is one of humor, unpredictability, talent and love - a life well-lived that will be remembered fondly by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
May the memory of Mr Jose Antonio “Joe” Rodriguez bring comfort to those who mourn his passing. A celebration of life will be held Friday, July 10 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Shepherd of the Hills Catholic Church, 6562 Amicus Rd, Ruckersville, VA with a repast held at the Parish Hall.
