Joseph Gary Bennett, Sr., 78, who resided in Ruckersville, Virginia, passed away on Thursday, May 23, 2024. Born September 28, 1945, in Arlington, Virginia, to the late Joseph Gilbert Bennett and Ruby Lee Martin.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Jean Carolyn Sheehan Bennett; a son, Darryl Wayne Bennett; daughter-in-law, Michelle Bennett; and a son-in-law, Dwayne Curtis.
Left to cherish his memory is his loving life companion of 35 years, Linda Louise Lamb Adkison; his children, Kimberlyn Kae Bennett Curtis, Joseph Gary Bennett, Jr., and Steven Shane Bennett; siblings, Joyce Marcus (Zeke), Joan Coffey (Dave), Mike Bennett (Roelinka), and Daniel Bennett; six grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
He had a strong passion for sheet metal work and loved spending time in his sheet metal shop. He also loved rock and roll, especially music from the 1950s.
The family would like to express its gratitude to the staff of Medi Home Hospice for their love and care.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, June 1, 2024, beginning at 9:30 a.m. at Batten Funeral Home for a time of fellowship. A funeral service will begin at 10:30 a.m. at Batten Funeral Home. Interment will follow the service after a peaceful drive to Colombia Cemetery in Arlington, Virginia.
