Jurine Morris Hensley

Jurine Morris Hensley, age 79, passed away on January 5, 2026, at The Blake Memory Care Facility. Jurine was born on August 7, 1946, to the late Earman Lee and Freddie Mae Morris in Greene County. Jurine was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She will be remembered for her kindness, patience, and warm sense of humor (unless you made her angry). Jurine loved her family deeply and unconditionally.

In addition to her parents, her husband, James (Jimmy) Hensley, her granddaughter Megan Lynn Shifflett, and her siblings, Donald Morris, Brenda Mae Morris, preceded her in death.

Left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Vernell Hensley (Kenny), and her grandson, Sheldon Shifflett (Sarah). Also, her siblings, Helen Haney, Clarence Morris (Leca), Norman Morris, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

She spent 30 years working at Siemens Manufacturing Company where she made circuit breakers, a forklift operator and housekeeping duties. After the plant closed, she worked as a housekeeper at the University of Virginia, the Culpeper Juvenile Detention Facility, and Saint Anne’s Belfield School, where she finally decided to retire and enjoy life with her family and friends. Jurine knew and loved her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, January 11, 2026, at Batten Funeral Home, 12819 Spotswood Trail, Ruckersville, VA 22968, from 12-1 pm, with funeral service following at 1 pm, officiated by Pedro Thompson. Interment will follow at the Evergreen Cemetery.

The family would like to thank The Blake Memory Care Facility and the Trinity Hospice staff for their kindness, support, and, most of all, love during her final years. The staff gave Jurine the nickname “Queen of The Blake” as she was in charge.

Jurine will be deeply missed and forever loved by all who knew her.
