Lucille Baugher Haney, 98, of Stanardsville, passed away January 31, 2026, at Greene Acres Rehabilitation and Nursing.
Lucille was born on October 2, 1927, in Greene County. She was the last surviving child of the late George Edgar and Della Orelia Walton Baugher.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Edwin “Jack” Haney; her daughter Deloris Haney Parrott; two sisters, Gladys Collier (Elmer) and Marie Walker (Lloyd); and six brothers, Elmer (Lorene), Carl, Harry (Sarah), Leroy (Pansy), W.L. (Patty Lee), and Eugene (Emogene).
She is survived by a son, Edwin “Pete” Asbury Haney; daughter Jacqueline Haney Morris (Keith) all of Stanardsville; son-in-law, Donald Parrott of Ruckersville; three grandchildren, Stephanie Parrott Haraway (Keith) of Lexington, Russell Parrott (Heather) of Ruckersville, Damian Morris (Priscilla) of Orange, and an “adopted” grandchild Claudio Hernandez of Malaga, Spain; five great-grandchildren, Darren Woodward (Faith) of Harrisonburg, Jordan Parrott (Kristin) of Ruckersville, Laci-Ann Dunn (Brian) of Stanardsville, and Kolby and Tristan Morris of Orange; one great great-grandchild Cleo Woodward of Harrisonburg; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends both in Virginia and North Carolina who loved her dearly.
Lucille worked for 41 years in the cafeterias for the Greene County Schools. She adopted and fell in love with all of the children who came through the lunch line. Before she retired, she was starting to see the third generation.
In addition, she loved cooking, farming, and gardening on her “Arrowhead Farm,” which is her legacy for her children and grandchildren to continue to enjoy. Through the years, a host of children, teens, and families have enjoyed coming to visit “the farm.” She was always happy to feed anyone who came through the door. It was agreed that if you left hungry, it was your fault.
Lucille was a lifelong member of Swift Run Baptist Church in Ruckersville.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 14, 2026, beginning at 2:00 at Swift Run Baptist Church, 4306 Amicus Road, Ruckersville, with Pastor Mark Holder officiating. Interment will follow at Stanardsville Cemetery.
