It is with profound sadness that we announce the death of our mother and friend, Mary Frances Trimpe (Dorritie). Mary was born May 1, 1946, in Queens, New York City. She died peacefully at home on Thursday, Aug. 4, from a known heart condition.
Mary was the third of four children born to Daniel and Geraldine Dorritie. She is preceded in death by her older sister, Catherine of Danbury, Connecticut. Mary was married to Michael R. Trimpe of Peekskill, New York, for many years before his death in March 2001. Mary is survived by her two children, one daughter and one son Mark D. Trimpe, his wife, Alison Fletcher Trimpe, and grandchildren Hope Christine Trimpe and Phoenix Michael Trimpe. Mary is also survived by her brother Dan Dorritie of Sacramento, California, her youngest sibling and brother, Walter Dorritie of Connecticut, nieces and nephews, and other family and friends.
Mary was first and foremost a wonderful mother and wife. She was a hard worker, both as a stay-at-home mom and later as an accountant and bookkeeper for various entities and individuals for many years.
Mary enjoyed attending family events such as holidays and birthdays with her grandchildren, spending time with her family and friends, feeding and watching birds, fishing, and all the simple, good things in life. She had a serious sweet tooth and loved to bake for family and friends over the years and was well known for her lattice cherry pies and heart-shaped jelly-filled cookies.
Mary was a very compassionate and empathetic person to her family and friends and all that knew her. In times of pain, trouble, or sorrow she could always be counted on for a kind, loving word of encouragement. She is loved and will be missed dearly. We love you, Mom.
Her graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 13, at Holly Memorial Gardens in Charlottesville, followed by a reception for friends and family at 3157 Earlysville Road, Earlysville, Va. 22936
