Mattie E. Shifflett

Mattie Etta Graves Shifflett,90, of Rappahannock Academy, Virginia passed away  Friday, December 18, 2020.

She was born April 12, 1930, daughter of the late Stonewall Jackson Graves and Dulcie Kurdle Fitzgerald Graves.

In addition to her parents, Mattie was deceased in death by her husband, Reese Elmer Shifflett; two sons, Dan Stuart Shifflett and Garry McLean Shifflett; son-in-law, Roy Turner.

Mattie is survived by her sons, Kenneth Shifflett and his wife, Joyce of Luray, Virginia and Eddie Shifflett and his wife, Rose of Lancaster, Ohio; daughters, Pat Turner of Grey Court, South Carolina and Debbie Green and her husband, David of Rappahannock Academy, Virginia; daughter-in-law, Brenda Shifflett of Ontario, Canada; nine grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; 11 great-great-grandchildren; and many other family members and friends.

Mattie was a loving wife, mother and grandmother.  She was a loving caregiver to her husband, Reese, until his passing and received much joy from her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held at 12:30 P.M. Tuesday, December 22, 2020 at Ryan Funeral Home, 12819 Spotswood Trail Ruckersville, VA 22968 with Pastor Dave Hockney officiating.  Interment will follow at Stanardsville Cemetery.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.

Due to COVID-19, masks and social distancing are required.  For those unable to attend the service, the service will be livestreamed via Facebook on Ryan Funeral Home’s Facebook page.
