Maxwell Oliver Strother Sr., (71), of Ruckersville, Virginia, departed his earthly home on March 18, 2023, at the University of Virginia Medical Center in Charlottesville, Virginia.
Born on September 27, 1951, to the late Alfred James Strother and Lottie Brock.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, Gene Strother Sr., his sister-in-law, Betty Strother, brother-in-law, Thomas Walls, and grandson, Destyn Jackson.
Maxwell leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of 40 years, Laverne Strother; six daughters: Maxicelia Robinson (Troy), La’Tasha Strother, Felicity Strother (Sam), Jamelia Thomas (Terry), Yvonne Williams (Merle), and Hope Faulkner (Alexander). He also leaves a son, Maxwell Oliver Strother Jr. (Natavia); five sisters: Geraldine Johnson (Harold), Patsy Walls, Martha Tyler (Terry), Shirley Massie, and Hope Strother; grand and great-grandchildren, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
Maxwell attended Holy Trinity Pentecostal Church in his youth. He worked at Casey Concrete for many years and went on to become self-employed as a concrete finisher.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, March 27, 2023, at Shiloh Baptist Church in Stanardsville, Virginia with Rev. Harrison Williams officiating. Interment will follow at Tibbs Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 pm on Sunday, March 26, 2023, at McDaniel Funeral Home.
