Mildred Louise Shifflett

Mildred Louise Shifflett, 87, of Charlottesville passed away April 12, 2015 at her home after a short battle with cancer.

She was born December 27, 1927 in Dyke, Virginia. Mildred was the daughter of the late Hoover and Reba Vernon Shifflett.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Russell Lowell Shifflett; brother, Gilmer Shifflett; sister, Sylvia Tennyson; and a special granddaughter, Maari Ann Spencer.

Mildred graduated from William Monroe High School in Stanardsville, Virginia. She was a retired employee of Wachovia Bank after 25 years of service.

Mildred is survived by her daughter, Brenda Neofotis and her husband, Nick of Charlottesville, Virginia and their sons, Christopher Neofotis of Centreville, Virginia and Mark Neofotis of Harrisonburg, Virginia; Judy Spencer and her husband, Clinton of Rochelle, Virginia and their son, Ryan Spencer of Elkton, Virginia.

She is also survived by a sister, JoAnn Baber of Charlottesville, Virginia; brother, Walter Shifflett and his wife, Virginia of Annapolis, Maryland; and many loved nieces and nephews.

Mildred attended and was a charter member of Charlottesville Church of the Brethren where she served on many committees including chairman of the Clothes Closet and the Children’s Nursery.

Mildred was a gentle and kind person to all. She was a loving and thoughtful mother and grandmother who will be missed by all the family.

She enjoyed traveling, going to the beach, gardening in her yard and most of all attending and watching all her grandchildren play in their sporting events.

The family will receive friends from 12:00-1:00 P.M. Saturday, April 18, 2015 at Charlottesville Church of the Brethren, 1225 Rio Road East, Charlottesville. They will also receive friends anytime at the home.

A funeral service will be held at 1:00 P.M. Saturday, April 18, 2015 at Charlottesville Church of the Brethren with Pastor Ted Williams officiating. Interment will follow at Holly Memorial Gardens. Following the interment, everyone is invited for a fellowship meal at the church.
