Minnie Shifflett Riley Goodson
On December 11, 2013, Minnie Shifflett Riley Goodson of Thelma, Louisa, VA passed at her daughter’s home. She was born May 31, 1920, in Albemarle County, to the late Cornelius Arthur and Nellie Rebecca Shifflett.
Minnie is survived by her daughter, Valeria Riley Shifflett; one granddaughter, Kelly Riley Taylor and her husband David and their three children, Jake Owen Taylor, Riley James Taylor and Kate Rebecca Taylor.
She is also survived by two step granddaughters and one step grandson; Regina Shifflett Brumback and her husband, Ken, and their son Ian, Sherri Selena Shifflett, and Richard Todd Shifflett; a special brother-in-law, Marion (Buck) Harris and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by the husband of her children, Otto Franklin Riley and her second husband, Otis Wade Goodson, her son, Calvin Franklin Riley, and son-in-law, Kenneth Wayne Shifflett.
Minnie was the last member of her family of 9 siblings; a member of Rivanna Baptist Church and retired from Frank Ix and Sons in Charlottesville after more than 50 years of service.
The family would like to express a special thanks to the dedicated staff of Forest Lakes Family Medicine, especially Dr. Cynthia Richards and Hospice of the Piedmont.
A graveside service will be held on Friday, December 12, 2013, at 2 p.m. at Monticello Memory Gardens, with Pastor Larry Wingfield officiating.
In lieu of flowers, it is requested that donations on her behalf be made to Hospice of the Piedmont, 675 Peter Jefferson Parkway, Suite 300, Charlottesville, VA 22911.
