Murble Jean Baker transitioned to her heavenly home on Sunday, December 21, 2025. “Jean,” as she was known, was surrounded by her family. Jean was born April 21, 1938, to the Late Roy and Ida Buckner Jackson in Greene County.
Jean attended the Greene County public schools. In 1957, Jean married her husband, Lindsay Junior Baker. This would be a relationship that would last more than six decades. At a young age, Jean joined the Bethany Baptist Church, where she was a devoted member and served in several capacities: trustee, financial secretary, missionary, and in preparing meals for the church. Jean faithfully attended church until her health no longer permitted it.
Jean is preceded in death by her parents, Roy & Ida Jackson, both her paternal and maternal grandparents, sons: Larry and Matthew, brothers: Channing, Leroy, Eddie, Sylvester, Thomas, Attwaye, and James, sisters: Edith Davis, Della Taylor, Novella Freitas, and Savola Lindsay, Esterlean Everette, two grandchildren, Kimberly and Tamara Baker.
She leaves to cherish her memory, her husband of 67 years, Lindsay Junior Baker, her children: Pernell (Ambrosia) CA, Jesse (Fannie-Mae) Charlottesville, Hollis, Ruckersville, Reginald (Annette) Charlottesville, Wesley (Sandy) Ruckersville. 20 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great-grandchildren. Her sister Jacqueline Carey (Norman) Barboursville, a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins
Jean loved to cook and was famous for her chocolate and coconut cakes and her banana pudding. She enjoyed reading from the book of Psalms. If she questioned what was being said, she would quickly reply “Go way from here.” or “Is that right?”
The family will receive friends on Saturday, December 27, 2025, from 9:30 to 10:30 at Bethany Baptist Church in Ruckersville. A funeral service will start promptly at 10:30. Interment will be at the church cemetery immediately following the service.
