Nancy Kay McHenry died peacefully at 61 years of age on January 6th, 2024, surrounded by her family. Nancy was born on August 7, 1962, to Donald and Marie Sobin.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her best friend, Sherri Minor. Nancy was diagnosed with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS; Lou Gehrig’s disease) in 2023. As with any other obstacle and adverse health condition that she encountered throughout her life, she fought her fight with ALS resiliently until the very end. She remained steadfast in maintaining a positive attitude, no matter what.
Nancy is survived by her “boy toy,” life partner, and love of her life, Joe Metcalf; her son Ryan McHenry; his wife Candace; their two children, Madeline and Emmett; her daughter Jordan McHenry and Jordan’s two sons, William and Jacob, and, of course, her pup Ozzie. She was the best mother, friend, and GiGi. Nancy radiated love, compassion, kindness, and happiness to everyone who had the privilege to know her, love her, and have her in their lives. She was a bright light that will live on to shine through her children, grandchildren, family, and friends.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the ALS Association would be greatly appreciated. A celebration of her life will be held for Nancy later, and details will be provided once available. An email address has been created in her memory for anyone who would like to send their thoughts, stories of Nancy, or pictures of her. That email address is celebratingnancymchenry@gmail.com.
