Nellie Virginia Shifflett

Nellie Virginia Shifflett, 87, of Greene County, VA, passed away on Monday, May 20, 2019 at Dogwood Village of Orange. She was born on January 4, 1932 in Greene County to the late Hiram and Viola Watson Rodgers.

Mrs. Shifflett was the most wonderful, caring, gracious woman that God ever put breath into. Her heart was made of pure gold as a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend who always went above and beyond to be there for her family. Her love will never be forgotten.

She is survived by her daughters, Marie Shifflett (Willard) and Wanda Morris (Carroll); sisters, Addie Smith and Dolly Cash; grandchildren, Gail Cook, Laura Ann Collier, Derek Lawson, Randy Higgins, Matthew Morris, Lisa Smith, Mindy Taylor and Brian Shifflett; 13 great grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Hope Shifflett; special sister-in-law, Betty Rodgers; and a very dear person, Shelly Shifflett.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Solomon Shifflett; son, Roy Shifflett; and her brother, Prentice Rodgers.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, May 22, 2019 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Ryan Funeral Home, 12819 Spotswood Trail, Ruckersville, VA 22968.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, May 23, 2019 at 2 p.m. at Evergreen Church of the Brethren, 645 Evergreen Church Rd, Stanardsville, VA 22973 with Rev. C.C. Kurtz officiating.

Interment will follow at Holly Memorial Gardens.
