Nettie Frances Shifflett

Nettie Frances Shifflett, 96, of Stanardsville, VA passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 7, 2014. She was born on December 8, 1917 in Boonesville, VA to the late Moten and Addie Shifflett.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her devoted husband of 74 years, Roy Shifflett, her beloved granddaughter, Dana Shifflett, her sisters, Catherine, Alice, and Ellen and her brothers, Kenny, Ellis, Brother Roy and Herbert.

Her love for her family was the most important thing to her. She is survived by her children, Roger Shifflett and his wife, Doris of Ruckersville, Danny Shifflett and his wife, Patti of Ruckersville, Dale Shifflett and his wife, Phyllis of Ruckersville, Angela Shifflett and her husband, Irving of Stanardsville and Diane Drew and her husband, Jerry of Elkwood.

Additional survivors include her grandchildren, Johnny, Angela, Adam, Tonya, Jeremy, Kyle and Kristen, her great grandchildren, Austin, Mitchell, James, Gabe and Nora and numerous, nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.

Nettie was well known for being a wonderful cook, her love for flowers, especially roses and her beautiful weed free garden. Her children and grandchildren have wonderful memories of the tomato patch. Mom never knew the word quit and her hands were always busy with needle work, sewing and doing for others. She was a member of the Grace Episcopal Church in Stanardsville, VA for over 50 years.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, December 11, 2014 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Ryan Funeral Home, 12819 Spotswood Trail Ruckersville, VA 22968.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, December 12, 2014 at 11 a.m. at Grace Episcopal Church, 97 Main St., Stanardsville, VA 22973.
Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery in Dyke, VA.

The family would like to express their heartfelt appreciation to the staff of Grace Health and Rehab in Stanardsville and to the doctors and nurses of Martha Jefferson Hospital, especially Tina Rutt and Dr. Samuel Caughron for the care they gave our Mom.
