Ola Jane Morris

June 9, 1919 — August 24, 2017

Ola Jane Morris, 98, went to be with her Lord on August 24, 2017.
She was born on June 9, 1919 in Greene County, the daughter of the late Miley and Lindy Morris.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Mannis Morris; son-in-law, Russell (R.E.) Safley; three very special sisters, Florine Morris, Frances Morris and Pauline Morris.

Ola is survived by her loving daughter, Malinda Faye Safley of Charlottesville with whom she has resided with for the last 14 years of her life; a host of beloved nieces and nephews, whom she adored. She had a very special love and bond for each and every one of them.

She was baptized at an early age with a lifetime membership at Mt. Grove Chapel, Church of the Brethren, Dyke, VA. Ola retired from the University of Virginia after 22 years of service and enjoyed her job every day with the UVA staff and all the UVA students.

She appreciated and valued the simple things in life with her Lord and church first, hard work, family and friends.

Ola had a beautiful way of making people laugh with her good sense of humor and she never met a stranger that she didn’t make laugh with her quick jokes. If you knew her, and you were not having a good day when you came in contact with her, you knew after seeing and talking to her you could expect that day to be much better for you. However Ola touched your life with her act of kindness, sharing and caring for each other, she would want everyone to continue with her tradition. Above all, she loved.

A very special thank you to Pastor James (Jim) Jinks for all his visits and prayers, to Helen Mundie, Bea Thacker, Betty Johnson, and George Mundy for the compassionate care and support during her time.
Her family would like to extend their sincere appreciation and gratitude to Dr. Debbie Campbell and staff at Albemarle Square Family Healthcare, and Dr. Jonathon Evans for the love, support and care during her time of need.

The family will receive family and friends Saturday, August 26, 2017 from 5:00-7:00 PM at Ryan Funeral Home, 12819 Spotswood Trail, Ruckersville, VA.

A funeral service will be held on Sunday, August 27, 2017 at 2:00 PM at Ryan Funeral Home with Pastor Jim Jinks officiating. Interment to follow at Evergreen Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, PO Box 60100, Boulder City, Nevada 89006.
An online guestbook is available at www.ryanfuneral.com
