Orman Carol Thompson, Sr.
Orman Carol Thompson, Sr., 67, of Ruckersville, better known as Tommy passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his family on Sunday, October 13, 2013. He was born on March 14, 1946 in Albemarle County to the late Harry Nicolas Thompson and Carrie McDaniel Holsapple.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Jeanie Pearl Thompson, five sons, Rodger Lee Roach and his companion, Diane of Stanardsville, Harry (Cookie) Thompson and his wife, Margaret of Ruckersville, Edwin (TomBoy) Roach and his wife, Virginia of Ruckersville, Dennis (Peewee) Roach of Ruckersville , Orman (Pedro) Thompson, Jr. and his wife, Patricia of Ruckersville, and three daughters, Barbara Robins and her husband, Bill of Ruckersville, Debra Mouberry and her husband, Thomas of Barboursville and Linda Seehase and her companion, Wayne of Stanardsville.
Additional survivors include a special niece, Leisa Hall, 21 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren four sisters, Ann Gayheart, Paula Holseapple, Tessie Bishop, Elaine Carol, one brother, Steve Holsapple, and step mother, Thelma Thompson.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Carl Thompson and Pete McDaniel, his uncle, Jessie W. Thompson and Grannie Thompson who raised him after his fathers death.
Tommy was a bridge foreman, heavy equipment operator for Central Contracting of Farmville before becoming a shipping and receiving foreman for Better Living Components and always a farmer at heart. Tommy loved family, fishing, bluegrass music and life on the farm. He was a hardworking, God fearing man. He attended Eden Christian Fellowship of Charlottesville.
The family wishes to thank the extended family, the church family and especially his kind and caring neighbors, Roy and Sally Wyant and everyone for their prayers, support and those that provided meals during this difficult time
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, October 15, 2013 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Ryan Funeral Home, 12819 Spotswood Trail, Ruckersville, VA 22968.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, October 16, 2013 at 2 p.m. at Ryan Funeral Home with Rev. Edgar Green and Rev. Tommy Shifflett officiating.
Interment will follow in Heavens Path Family Cemetery.
