Randolph Franklin Shifflett, Sr. “Punch”
Randolph Franklin Shifflett, Sr. “Punch”, 78, of Stanardsville, VA died on Thursday, December 12, 2013 at his residence. He was born on February 28, 1935 in Stanardsville, VA to the late Earl Clarence and Grace Shifflett.
Randolph was a member of Stanardsville United Methodist Church and the Sons of the American Revolution. He served our country in the United States Navy during the Korean Conflict. He was an avid golfer at Greene Hills Club who was very proud of his “5 hole in one’s”. Above all he was a loving husband, devoted father and grandfather and will be missed dearly.
He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Erva Burkett Shifflett and three children, Debra Shifflett Snow and her husband, Michael of Ruckersville, Randolph Franklin Shifflett, Jr. and his wife, Lisa of Wilmington, NC and Sabrina Shifflett Rivera and her husband, Pedro of Wilmington, NC and a special niece, who was with the family during his final hours, Janet Salotti of Leesburg, VA.
Additional survivors include his grandchildren, Zack Horne (Heather), Stephen Horne, Randy Shifflett, Samuel Shifflett, Joshua Breeden, Jacqueline Breeden, Jordan Strombeck (Justin), Jeremy Breeden (Kara), Hannah Breeden, Abelardo Rivera and Alexander Rivera, two great grandchildren, Annabelle Horne and Mattox Breeden, two siblings, Earl C. Shifflett, Jr. and Evelyn Shifflett Barnes, his sister-in-law, Valeria Shifflett and numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brother, Kenneth Wayne Shifflett.
A memorial service celebrating his life will be held on Monday, December 16, 2013 at 2 p.m. at Stanardsville United Methodist Church, 25 Court St. Stanardsville, VA 22973 with Rev. Chuck Winner officiating.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in his name to Hospice of the Piedmont, 675 Peter Jefferson Pkwy Suite 300 Charlottesville, VA 22911 &/or Stanardsville United Methodist Church, 25 Court St Stanardsville, VA 22973.
