Robert Kennon "Tiny" Peyton, 85, of Stanardsville, Virginia, passed away on June 12, 2026, at UVA Hospital in Charlottesville.
Born on February 19, 1941, in Charlottesville, Virginia, Robert was the son of the late Lillie Susan Taylor Peyton. He graduated from William Monroe High School and proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps.
Robert worked for Sperry Marine in Charlottesville, where he served as a Senior Draftsman for many years. He was also the owner of Payton's Store for several years. In his free time, he enjoyed hunting and fishing and cherished spending time with family and friends.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 56 years, Hazel Dickerson Peyton. He is also survived by his brothers, Alvis "Duby" Peyton and Clarence "Buggs" Peyton (Mary Jane); his sister, Edith Phillips (Harry); and numerous nephews, nieces, great-nephews, and great-nieces.
In addition to his parents, Robert was preceded in death by his twin brother Harvey Milton (Janet), brothers Willie Sanford (Hazel), James Welford (Patricia), and Blueford Earl, and his sister Ethel Dunivan (Dick).
The family extends special thanks to Michael and Catherine Dickerson, Patricia Thompson, to the Greene County EMS and the Greene County Sheriff's Department for their care, support, and kindness.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, June 17, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Batten Funeral Home, with Pedro Thompson officiating. Interment will follow at Holly Memorial Gardens. A reception will follow the service at the Stanardsville Volunteer Fire Department.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, June 16, 2026, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Batten Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Stanardsville Volunteer Fire Department.
