Ruby Shifflett Powell

Ruby Shifflett Powell, 84, of Greene County, died peacefully on December 20, 2025, at the Cedars Nursing Home. Ruby was born on May 12, 1941, the daughter of the late Russell Shifflett and Caroline Conley Shifflett.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Thaddeus Powell; her daughter, Crystal Michelle Powell; and her siblings, Amos Shifflett and Arbutus Morris.

Left to cherish her memory are her siblings, Marcus Shifflett, Ruth Hammer, and Lessie Shifflett, as well as many nieces, one of whom was very special to her, Phyllis Breeden, nephews, cousins, and friends.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, December 28, 2025, at Batten Funeral Home from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.

A graveside service will be held on Monday, December 29, 2025, at Holly Memorial Gardens beginning at 1:30 p.m.

Arrangements are entrusted to Batten Funeral Home of Ruckersville, Virginia.
